The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
